Certification to ISCC Plus
Ensure Traceability Along the Entire Supply Chain
Transitioning to a sustainable circular economy is crucial to achieving climate targets.
An extension of the ISCC EU standard, ISCC PLUS provides a voluntary pathway to certification for a wide range of resources in the bio- and circular economy. These include biomass, waste, residues, non-biological renewable energy sources and recyclable carbon materials.
Your ISCC PLUS Certification at a Glance
While ISCC EU focuses on the legally regulated area of biofuels, ISCC PLUS certification relates to biomass outside the EU RED Directive. This voluntary certification enables you as a company to prove the sustainable origin of bio-based and/or circular raw materials in food, packaging, feed and chemical production and supply chains. ISCC PLUS promotes ecological and social criteria, creates trust through responsible production and guarantees ethical standards in certified products and processes.
From ISCC EU to ISCC PLUS:
The transition from ISCC EU to ISCC PLUS provides you with a solid basis for voluntarily integrating sustainability criteria into your supply chain, analogous to the requirements of the EU RED (European Union Renewable Energy Directive). This opens up additional opportunities for you to apply ISCC PLUS outside the EU fuel market.
- Registration and selection of the certification body
The certification process begins with your registration with ISCC and the selection of a recognized certification body. The time frame and content of the certification is defined in a certification contract. - Project meeting and pre-audit (optional)
Clarification of open questions and definition of the next steps; if necessary, the project meeting takes place on site or a pre-audit is carried out. - Certification audit on site
Document review and examination of your ISCC PLUS system and the implementation of your documented statements in day-to-day business. - ISCC EU audit report and certificate
After successful completion of the audit, you will receive your audit report and your ISCC PLUS certificate. Important: If your company does not meet essential criteria of the ISCC PLUS standard, corrective measures must be implemented within 40 days and checked by the auditor.
Annual audit
ISCC PLUS certificates are valid for twelve months, requiring recertification at the end of this period. Recertification audits should be planned in such a way that there is no gap between two certificates.
